Gingerah Energy is a private company with its origins in geosciences. The company is pursuing the development of integrated renewable energy projects on Karajarri country, leveraging its technical experience and stakeholder relationships to initiate these efforts.
At Gingerah Energy, the integration of environmental sustainability considerations in our daily business decisions and strategies is fundamental evidenced by our actions. The Company is committed to its responsibility to minimise the impact of projects and operations on the environment and to demonstrate leadership and courage in the transition towards net zero emissions by 2050.
In order to give effect to the energy transition, we are actively investing in the acquisition of tenure, on-ground site investigation, exploration activities and feasibility studies to employ renewable energy technology best suited to our sites and the production of transportable low-carbon energy products in the form of liquid hydrogen among other solutions.
We operate in close consultation with our stakeholders and form effective partnerships to ensure the sustainable and leading practice implementation of projects.
In the long term, Gingerah Energy aspires to be a significant producer of net zero (carbon emissions) energy solutions. Initially, the company is focussed on developing projects that minimise Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions in line with the Australian Government’s stated goal of net zero by 2050.
The Company has identified, and manages, the Company’s Environmental, Social and Governance risks to which it has material exposure, and the Board is responsible for managing those risks in a manner consistent with the Company’s Risk Management, Compliance and Governance Policy.
The Board will continue to review Gingerah Energy’s environmental and social sustainability and associated risk management framework to ensure that it is fit-for-purpose; that the Company’s practices and procedures align; to determine whether there have been any material changes in the business risks the Company faces; and to ensure that the Company is operating within the risk appetite of the Board.
Indigenous Culture and Community
Gingerah Energy’s interests and activities are concentrated in the Great Sandy Desert, in the northwest of Australia. The project is on Karajarri country with a rich and important cultural history. Meaningful and strong relationships with the community and traditional owners are central to successful and sustainable business.
”Karajarri country is the source of spirit, culture and language for our people.
Since 2011, we have been working in the region and formed strong relationships and developed respect of traditions, culture and heritage. We are grateful to the traditional owners with whom we have engaged for their frank and constructive approach to the projects we seek to undertake and continue to learn from them in looking after their country and their alternative views to popular western culture.
Wherever possible, we seek to create opportunities for employment and contracting for aboriginal and local businesses. As the scale of activities increases, this will increase the opportunities available and the skills required.
Gingerah Energy understands the importance of building skills and capacities among local people and businesses as a way of investing in the future and ensuring that traditional owners and local businesses can benefit from the opportunities that arise.
Gingerah Energy is committed to conducting all operations in a manner sensitive to cultural concerns and undertakes a process of consultation with Traditional Owners and affected stakeholders before commencing any on-ground activities. Prior to ground disturbing works, to protect heritage values of the region, Gingerah Energy undertakes heritage clearance surveys and engages Traditional Owner heritage monitors during the carrying out of any ground disturbing works.
